Nutty preacher preaches to the wrong choir, not for the first time.
How many people do you know who have been converted to Christianity by street preachers? I would bet my house (if I owned one of course) that the answer is a big fat zero. Talking of street preachers and zeros, take a look at the above video, of a man who wholeheartedly believes the earth is 6,000 years old, preaching to a load of atheists.
These aren’t your every-day ‘pretty sure there’s no God and Church is kind of dull’ atheists either. They are atheists congregating to celebrate the opening of America’s first atheist monument. ‘Militant-atheists’ you could call them, if you were confused about what the word ‘militant’ means.
The unwelcome speaker is one Eric Hovind, a creationist spawned by one of America’s most infamous creationists, Kent Hovind. Kent has not only spent his life trying to convince schoolchildren that there is no scientific evidence for evolution, but is also serving 10 years for committing loads of un-Christian tax fraud. Sadly for America, his son Eric has taken up his mantel.
Losing faith? Atheists set up hotline for ex-believers
Eric gate-crashed the godless gathering in Florida, much to the dismay of one bystander who shouted: “Where are the Romans when you need them?” If this video doesn’t give you your daily fix of crazy, here’s one of Eric debating the existence of god with a small child – and not exactly coming away with the resounding intellectual victory he might have expected.
